Beaded Ribbon Scissor Fob and Case

Trena delighted the daytime and evening members with her lovely beaded ribbon scissor case and fob demonstration. Both meetings can boast visitors this month.

Here she is discussing the proper position of the bead to the edge of the scissor case.

During the evening meeting, she chats with Kathleen about ribbon selection.

Trena was also brought her amazing quilt she named "Magpie Madness". The colors are spectacular...







In her free time she made a few scarves for her daughter and granddaughter's trip to New York as well as zipper purses made from music note fabric to give to friends on her handbell cruise. 

Susanna used a lovely Stylecrest lawn fabric to create this Children's Corner Bishop. The Ellen McCarn smocking design complimented this pink and blue floral beautifully.

Susan always has something precious to share. This Old Fashioned Baby Smocked Layette Pattern was sewn with dimity poly/cotton in white. This outfit came in a kit from Jeannie B. Susan shares she loved the fact that the gown is not too fun as there is smocking only on the front panel.

For her granddaughter, Nikki has used the CC Louise pattern for this summertime natural linen sundress. The lace was purchased at her local Joann's store. Nikki's granddaughter requested her initials to be included. Nikki challenged herself by creating her own smocking design on this white satin batiste yoke dress from a Collars Etc. pattern. Great job Nikki! This was her first COMPLETED smocking project.

Leda was a very busy sewist this month...here she shares information about this cute outfit she found in a Sew Beautiful magazine, issue Aug/Sept 2013 by Kathy Dykstra. She modified the smocking design by adding the pink ribbon.

She also did a little shadow work by machine for Wee Care gowns. She found this cute embroidery design on Appliqué for Kids by Joy Welsh. She individualized the gowns with different decorative embroidered stitches around the neckline and sleeves, very sweet.

The talent of our member Ann always inspires us. This Mindy from Children's Corner was created with a pink ultra batiste fabric featuring a white eyelet yoke.

The benchmark of perfectly smocked stitches can be found on this Bishop made by Joanne. The Primrose pattern was a spot-on choice for this lovely light weight Liberty of London fabric. For a little history of Liberty of London fabric, visit:

Beth loved using this Emma's Smocked Baby Dress pattern from Old Fashioned Baby by Jeannie B. The pattern included the smocking design and featured an ingenious box pleat under the arm. This will definitely be a treasured baby gift!
